My name is Mark Schleusner, and I am running for office on the Rochester City Council, Ward 6 seat.
I have experience as a public official, a community leader, and a strategic thinker. Born in Rochester, I proudly call this city my hometown. Aside from the years I spent serving my country in the military, I have been here, witnessing the changes and actively serving my fellow neighbors through volunteerism and community service. I’ve served on numerous boards, including the Rochester Public School Board. My training encompasses leadership, strategic thinking, and the ethics of a public official. I also have hands-on experience with fiscally responsible large budgets.
As a community, Rochester must seek candidates who prioritize the city’s best interests, particularly in Ward 6. We need a candidate who is a leader, strategic thinker, and willing to listen, making informed decisions that will shape Rochester’s future.
Once elected, I will bring a voice of experience, reason, and vision to the city council seat. Ward 6 deserves that representation.
I have nearly 20 years of experience in bringing people together to accomplish great things. I understand that it takes a team effort, with a focus on success, to drive meaningful change. It all begins with listening to the people, understanding their needs, and then formulating a thoughtful plan of action. Next, it involves collaborating with other decision-makers to reach agreements, foster understanding, and achieve clarity. Finally, I am committed to following through with the plan, recognizing that even the best-laid plans may require adjustments, refocusing, and consistent effort for success.
Government budgets are complex. They are subject to numerous legislative rules that dictate how funds can be utilized. Drawing from my extensive experience, I possess a deep understanding of large budgets. For instance, during my 4-year tenure on the Rochester Public Schools board, I gained valuable insights into their budget. Additionally, I served as the treasurer for 2 years, further enhancing my financial acumen. Moreover, my involvement with various non-profit Board of Directors over the years has provided me with insights into managing smaller budgets.
I have worked tirelessly within our community here in Rochester, uniting people. I’ve served on a number of boards, committees, and within various organizations. My leadership has been acknowledged, and I am honored to be a recipient of the Rochester Chamber of Commerce Volunteer of the Year award.
